Mutual Fund Advisor Monitor Awards: Fidelity, J.P. Morgan and Oppenheimer Excel in Multimedia

by on Jan 17, 2017

In CI’s recent fifteenth annual installment of the Mutual Fund Advisor Monitor Awards report, we highlighted multimedia offerings from the top firms in the asset management space. Advisors seeking insights on market and economic conditions are bombarded with a swathe of content that they need to read and synthesize in order to gain valuable takeaways, which can be a time consuming process. Multimedia resources, namely video, audio and webcasts, are increasingly popular mediums for firms to capture the decreasing attention spans of advisors. The Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners in the Multimedia category of our report were Fidelity, J.P. Morgan and OppenheimerFunds, respectively. Here, we highlight reasons why these firms lead the pack:

Our gold medal goes to Fidelity, which offers a healthy flow of webcasts and audio calls, as well as a constant stream of topical clips in its Video Library. Fidelity is one of few firms in our coverage group to conveniently centralize its videos, making it easy for advisors to find. The firm’s videos address a wide range of topics, including market and economic conditions, quarterly outlooks for specific asset classes and portfolio manager insights. Videos condense a high volume of detail into bite size clips that typically fall below five minutes. Fidelity draws advisors back to its advisor site by uploading fresh videos several times per week.

J.P. Morgan receives a silver medal for its audio content surrounding the popular Guide to the Markets and Guide to Retirement suites of content. Both presentations include audio commentary for each individual slide, helping advisors understand key findings that they can then share with clients. Additionally, the firm offers two related audio calls: Quarterly Conference Call and Dr. Kelly’s Review.

OppenheimerFunds wins a bronze medal for its Events section, featuring a strong collection of webinars. Webinar replays are available in a customizable ON24 viewer for advisors to add or remove five different panels from the viewer: Media Player, Q&A, Slides, Resource List and Speaker Bio. This creates a more flexible and engaging experience for the end user. In terms of audio content, OppenheimerFunds also promotes several podcasts on its advisor website.
