Corporate Insight surveyed 297 registered financial advisors in November 2018 to better understand how they use asset management firms’ websites. We conducted interviews online with a nationally representative sample of advisors drawn from Research Now’s panel. All respondents indicated they have client portfolios with mutual funds and ETFs and that they accessed the asset managers’ advisor-facing websites at least once in the past two or three months. The survey gathered perspectives on web and mobile platform usage and key features as well as the importance of various facets of practice management, including thought leadership, sales resources, communication preferences, social media use, client relationships and business challenges. We analyzed the survey data by several factors, including age, gender, primary business and assets under management.
