CI Review – E*TRADE’s New Forex Trading Platform & Research

by on Jan 25, 2012

altE*TRADE recently unveiled a variety of new Forex resources, including a new trading platform and online research, making them the fifth e-Monitor firm to offer Forex resources.

Design & Navigation
The new Forex section consists of 4 main tabs – Overview, News, Global Economic Calendar, and Trading Signals. The design is smooth and easy on the eye with straightforward displays that leave little doubt as to what is being viewed. Navigation is made easy due to the fact that all essential information is located within the four tabs, not scattered throughout the site.

Forex Trading Platform
The new forex trading platform, available in desktop and web-based versions, allows clients to trade 56 currency pairs. Advanced and simple dealing rates are displayed on the center of the page and update by the second. The page view is customizable and may be altered to a client’s liking. In addition to buying and selling currencies, a quick link to the research platform is made readily available. Clients may also view chart analysis via the trade platform.

The research capabilities offered are extensive and should provide clients with a solid base of knowledge. Comprehensive news articles and forecasts keep users up to date in regards to the latest events and trends in foreign markets, and also offer trading ideas and tactics from the experts themselves. Advanced charting backed by analysis enables clients to spot global economic trends regarding currencies.

Final Thoughts
E*TRADE has done an excellent job with their Forex platform. The firm provides clients with great depth of analysis and research resources, while making the navigation and use of the program easy. Further, the firm’s commission-free trading helps to promote competitive spreads and fair execution. The new Forex resources are a good addition for E*TRADE and they position the firm well going forward. As Forex continues to grow in popularity as an alternative to equities trading, more brokerage firms could be inclined to introduce or expand their Forex capabilities this year.
