by on Oct 07, 2013

Putnam Investments overhauled its Individual Investors website, introducing a sleek new design that makes it easier for retail investors toPrint find investing information. The firm deployed a simpler design, with an improved main navigation menu. Additionally the new site includes responsive design, allowing it to be comfortably viewed across different browser screen sizes and devices.

Homepage and Navigation Enhancements
Visitors to the site are greeted with a new homepage that presents a clear layout of information and does away with the old, cluttered homepage design. Links to recent thought leadership pieces and essential site resources are listed below an attractive rotating display and account holders will be glad to see a login feature that is more prominent displayed for easy access.

Putnam also expanded its main navigation menu from four to eight tabs: Home, Mutual Funds, Retirement, College Savings, Our Perspectives, Forms, Tax Center and My Accounts. The changes help make it easier to find information on retirement and college savings investing. Moreover, Putnam improved navigation to the firm’s IRA products, offering easier access to Roth vs. Traditional comparisons and calculators. Taxresources are also more prominent on the new site, helping investors manage their finances and prepare for filing.

Cleaner Display
While much of the information on the new Putnam Individual Investors site is pre-existing, the new layout makes it easier to read and adds simple-but-useful functionality, such as sorting capabilities to tables of data. Additionally, many tables, like pricing and performance, are now better spaced and include alternating shading to make it easier to read information.

Closing Thoughts
Putnam’s redesign brings the retail investor experience up to the forefront of asset management sites. The responsive design and clear layouts of pages help to improve the user experience, while making information easier to read and better looking.
