A recent survey by Sun Life Financial shows that according to financial advisors, over half of their clients that may benefit from variable annuities don’t actually own one, and this is due in large part to investors’ lack of knowledge about these complex investments. Because of this, many annuity providers have been creating videos to help clients better understand the key features of variable annuities, as we first discussed on our blog back in March. Sun Life Financial is continuing this push for annuity education, as the firm recently unveiled its new public Look on the Bright Side informational video. The new video aims to educate investors on some of the basic features found in variable annuities, such as retirement income accumulation and the building of a withdrawal base, as well as how the products can provide lifetime income for retirees, and the available optional benefit riders.
New York Life recently unveiled a new collection of asset allocations – the Efficient Income Frontier – that are designed to optimize the risk-return ratio with the client’s needs and goals in mind. The portfolios associated with the Efficient Income Frontier utilize a specific methodology to develop combinations of stocks and bonds along with a fixed lifetime income annuity. In conjunction with this new collection of asset allocations, the firm released a new Efficient Income Frontier Tool which is designed to help client’s maximize their estate potential while minimizing their income risk.
