As the curtains close on 2016, we present the first annual Healthcare Monitor Awards Report, offering an analysis of the state of the health insurance industry in terms of the best digital resources and features that lead the online member experience. This year, we benchmark industry leaders across six critical categories, awarding gold, silver and bronze medals, based on how well firms meet our criteria.
The Gold Medal is reserved for capabilities that offer an exceptionally valuable and comprehensive service to members in a user-friendly, well-designed interface. We award a Silver Medal for resources that offer strong functionalities while suffering from a few small flaws. Finally, a Bronze Medal goes to resources that, though imperfect, offer members an excellent or uniquely valuable service.
Our distribution of awards does not rely on health plans’ competing against one another but rather against the standard for a given resource and its attributes. As such, some categories see a single medal awarded to multiple firms. This method of distributing medals serves to highlight individual health plans for their superior resources and features and to emphasize areas of the online plan servicing and management experience where the health insurance industry as a whole is succeeding and where there is room for improvement.
