Face ID Login Feature – Nine firms introduce Face ID to mobile applications, in response to the new features of the iPhone X. Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, E*TRADE, Fidelity, PNC, U.S. Bank, Progressive and USAA all adopted the new technology as a means for signing on to their secure applications.
Public and Private Site Tools – Four firms launched new public site tools and calculators this month. Lincoln Financial Group added a What Are My Long-Term Care Insurance Needs? calculator that computes long-term care needs and how long assets will last. Capital One Investing’s new Find an Advisor tool allows users to search advisors and schedule an appointment. iShares introduced a Tax Monitor tool that analyzes estimated quarterly capital gains distributions and performance data for mutual funds and ETFs. Fidelity launched a new tool available on both public and private sites—The Fidelity Retirement Score—that provides a retirement readiness score based on a questionnaire.
Along with these public site additions, four firms also added private site tools this month. Allianz Life added three new calculators that determine the hypothetical performance of the Allianz Index Advantage, Allianz Index NF or Allianz Index Advantage New York variable annuities. Prudential’s Know Where You Stand tool assesses financial wellness and preparedness through a series of questions, and its Daily Money tool creates a budget and tracks expenses of bank, credit card and investment accounts. Lincoln Financial also added a private site Required Minimum Distribution Calculator, which determines the RMD for IRA accounts, as well as three underwriting calculators. Merrill Edge introduced a Stock Stories tool for better understanding stock profile information, detailed further below.
Promotions – This month, four firms added promotions and giveaways. John Hancock expanded the Apple Watch program, in which clients can buy an Apple Watch for an initial payment of $25 and earn monthly reductions based on Vitality points. American Express announced SoulCycle offers for Platinum card holders, such as three free classes when they purchase 20 classes. U.S. Bank’s Season of Giving promotion enters account holders for a chance to win $5,000 each time they complete a bill pay or person-to-person transaction, and USAA introduced an Army-Navy Rivalry Trivia Social Media Giveaway, a five-day Facebook trivia contest, with five winners receiving Army-Navy game memorabilia.

Wells Fargo Launches Intuitive Investor Platform
Wells Fargo Advisors introduced its new automated digital advice platform, which features nine risk-based ETF portfolios with optional tax harvesting, all automatically rebalanced and managed by the Wells Fargo Investment Institute. The platform requires a $10,000 minimum investment and levies an annual advisory fee of 50 basis points, or 40 basis points for customers who link an existing Wells Fargo Bank Portfolio. As it stands, the platform is only available to existing clients.
