Each day, distracted driving causes approximately 100 injuries and nine deaths—Corporate Insight’s P&C Insurance Monitor reviewed how top industry firms acknowledged Distracted Driving Awareness Month this April. Firms leveraged social media channels to distribute facts and tips and seized the opportunity to promote public site articles, blog posts, videos, infographics and other related content. Here’s how nine leading firms showed support on social media: Allstate Amica, Erie, Esurance, GEICO, Safeco, State Farm, Travelers and USAA.
Esurance added a video on Twitter offering safety tips for driving with a dog. The firm suggests putting animals in the back of the car, using carriers or pet belts and giving treats after reaching the destination.
GEICO launched a public service announcement featuring GEICO Smartdogs to encourage drivers not to text and drive and to turn on “do not disturb” mode while driving. Several YouTube videos feature the Smartdogs campaign. The firm also shared an article about how to combat distractions on the road.
Travelers raised awareness for distracted driving through its Unfinished Stories video series, which imagines the incomplete lives of victims of distracted driving. In honor of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the firm promoted its Stop Distracted Driving public site page, posted on Facebook and Twitter and released its 2019 Distracted Driving for Consumers infographic. The firm also added a YouTube video about different types of distractions on the road.
