P&C Insurance Monitor is pleased to present our annual report recognizing the top websites and mobile features of coverage group property and casualty insurers. This year, we identify industry leaders across six high-level categories: Public Homepages, Private Homepages, Mobile App Dashboards, Mobile App Features, Auto Quote Tools and Online Billing Statements. We now provide an overview of the Public Homepages category along with an outline of the gold, silver and bronze medal recipients.
Whether greeting potential new customers or welcoming returning clients, public homepages play an essential role in the overall user experience of a website. The first screen of the public site, the homepage represents the firm’s brand and services. We look at how firms present their products and services, valuing responsive, well-organized homepages. The homepage serves as a navigational hub for access to product information, quote tools and resources, as well as client login and account servicing capabilities. In this category, we evaluate how firms balance appearance and functionality on the public homepage.
The four awarded firms excel in combining simplicity with substantive content alongside quality navigation systems, facilitating a user-friendly experience:
Farmers earns a gold medal for its clean and concise public homepage. In March, Farmers revamped its public homepage design and navigation system, simplifying the main menu and promotional content, including a series of page-spanning banner images and a 10-product icon carousel. A centered Farmers logo divides the seven-tab main navigation menu, separating the prospect- and client-focused tools on the left and right sides respectively. Prospects can easily start a quote through the tool embedded within the main banner image, while clients can access the private site from the Log In main menu link.
Farmers Public Site Homepage
Allstate earns a silver medal for its comprehensive public homepage, which features a unique local agent map and row of insurance product links and detailed client information, including current payment data, for return customer visits. The bottom of the homepage is dedicated to educational resources, showcasing recommended and related articles. Liberty Mutual also receives a silver medal for its simple homepage design and usability. Product and client-related information is easy to find, with quote product selection tiles embedded within the banner image followed by intuitive login and claims support dropdown menus.
Liberty Mutual Public Site Homepage
The Hartford earns a bronze medal following slight adjustments to the homepage design, specifically changing the font color and tile spacing. The straightforward homepage features an embedded quote field and provides seamless access to key areas of the site. Clients can use the header link to access the client login page or the static footer’s Access Your Account section for another policy access point.
