For this Small Business Card Monitor Featured Topic, we focused on firms that offer their clients discounts on their card purchases – in the form of coupons or as automatic savings. Our findings showed that three SBCM firms have an in-house special offers section on their site, while two other SBCM firms partnered with Visa to offer clients a selection of coupons. All five SBCM firms do a nice job of offering clients a way to save on business expenses without the need to enroll in a program. We found that five SBCM firms do offer savings on one or more of these categories: car rentals, lodging, office supplies and technology solutions.

Of the three SBCM firms that offer an in-house savings program, one of the SBCM firms in particular stands out in that it not only offers automatic savings (no need for coupons), but clients can also track their savings on a section of the private site. This is also the only SBCM firm that offers automatic savings on select card purchases, in which clients can save on card purchases made with participating merchants.

As for the other two SBCM firms that partner with Visa, they allow clients to access a special offers page dedicated for business card holders. Here, card holders can access 15 coupons that can be retrieved online, over the phone or in-store, depending on the offer. One of the two SBCM firms, unfortunately, does not make this page easily accessible for card holders.

As for the other SBCM firms that currently do not offer a special offers section or free of charge savings for card purchases, some of them do encourage clients to enroll in Visa’sSavingsEdge program. This program allows clients to automatically save when shopping at participating merchants. Clients must go to the Visa site to enroll in this savings program.
