The life insurance advisor illustration system is one of the most commonly used and helpful tools offered to financial professionals online. The ability to generate sales ledgers that illustrate the specific benefits, financial considerations and values associated with death benefit protection and elected optional riders serves as a powerful sales aid for advisors. In this Life Insurance Monitor Report, we provide detailed reviews of the illustration tools offered by our coverage firms on the advisor website.

Nine firms that offer hypothetical annuity illustration systems were selected for evaluation on three key criteria:
  • Accessibility of the product illustration system
  • The overall interface design and usability
  • Quality of illustrations provided by the tools
Overall, the majority of Life Insurance Monitor firms provide financial professionals with easily accessible illustration systems that feature straightforward and easy-to-use designs. No firms covered in this report received a failing grade, and only one firm received a grade beneath the B range. A shade over 50% of the firms reviewed in this report obtained a grade in the B range.
 
The most decisive aspect of our assessment of life insurance illustration systems are the platforms on which these tools are provided. The majority of life insurance illustration systems, two-thirds to be exact, must be downloaded to the user’s PC – a process that typically requires a substantial amount of memory and time. Just under half of the firms in this report also offer an illustration system that can be accessed and utilized online, without the requirement to download. Additionally, the overall quality of illustration ledgers generated by Life Insurance Monitor firms is sound. A few firms utilize colorful graphs and charts that make the ledger more attractive and easier to read.
 
Additional key findings include:
  • 44% offer homepage quicklinks leading to the illustration systems.
  • All firms include disclosures, client information displays and multiple performance data sections in their ledgers.
  • Only two firms provide mobile platforms to their illustration systems.
  • Eight provide an advisor illustration overview page.
