Fintech Monitor: Webull Firm Profile

Webull, founded in 2016 as a market data platform, debuted its commission-free U.S. stock trading app in 2018. The firm positioned itself as an active trader platform from the outset, subverting the trend of simplified fintech brokerage platforms geared toward novices. Instead, Webull worked to appeal to experienced, high-frequency traders with a comprehensive set of trading features. While Webull’s platform has transformed over the past eight years, it maintains much of this strategic positioning today.
Webull has bolstered its set of available assets to become a one-stop shop for traders, including crypto, options, paper, futures, commodities, bond and prediction contract trading. This selection of assets complements new accounts like IRAs and robo accounts, as well as the firm’s core value add: a platform with more research tools, charting functions and order types than most investors will need. In 2025, Webull went public via a SPAC merger, trading on the Nasdaq.
