Retirement Plan Monitor: Comparative Analysis Report – Mobile Investment Transactional Capabilities
The ability to manage investments is a central component of the digital participant experience. Our DC plan participant survey—which served as the backbone of our 2016 syndicated study, Satisfying Today’s Retirement Plan Participant—showed that this is true for both participants sites and mobile apps.
Success story
Following a recent iteration of our annual year-end Monitor Awards report—where we highlight the best retirement plan resources and features in the online defined contribution plan participant space—a large recordkeeper that won numerous awards wanted to know how it could position itself to close competitive gaps and win more awards the following year. The Retirement Plan Research Services team ran a custom DC Plan Participant Audit to benchmark the client against all firms that scored higher in the report. Using these details, our team assembled detailed recommendations for priority site features, which the client used to inform its strategic planning for the following year.

Institutional Survey Report – Plan Sponsor Websites: Perception and Engagement
This Institutional Report summarizes and analyzes data from our 2019 DC Plan Sponsor Survey. Overall, sponsors’ satisfaction with websites is relatively high, but room for improvement remains in certain categories.
Success story
A large recordkeeper was interested in making upgrades to its sponsor site alerts/notifications system and contacted CI’s Retirement Plan Research Services team for assistance. We set up a meeting to review a recent Retirement Plan Monitor – Institutional report that we wrote on the subject, which took a deep dive into the ways that an effective suite of alerts can enhance the plan sponsor digital experience. The client was particularly interested in how the use of icons and other attention-grabbing features can help sponsors prioritize and identify which alerts require immediate action. We were able to show the recordkeeper which competitors in our coverage group offer the strongest alerts systems and direct them to detailed experience profiles within the report for screenshots.
