Fintech Monitor: Firm Profile – Robinhood

Founded in 2013, Robinhood disrupted the investing space by offering commission-free trading on a sleek, mobile-first interface. Young and novice investors signed up at high rates, but the firm damaged trust with users when it limited stock trading in 2021 during the GameStop and AMC short squeeze.
As it battles to regain users’ trust, the firm has also sought to expand functionality to match incumbents. Since 2024, Robinhood has launched the Legend advanced desktop trading platform, index options and futures trading, prediction market contracts, AI-powered stock summaries, advanced charting, managed accounts, joint accounts, and more.
The firm appears dedicated to continuing this rapid growth. According to the public site, Robinhood has two significant upcoming features: Robinhood Social and Robinhood Ventures. Social will track trades by insiders and politicians, while Ventures will allow users to invest in private company investments.
Alongside these new services, the firm has maintained focus on its core brokerage account, recently launching profit & loss analysis, adding advanced charting and introducing AI-powered stock summaries. In total, these efforts position Robinhood to compete for both novice and experienced investors against competitors.
